Solaris projection

In Germany, Airbus forced apple-farmers outside of Hamburg to sell large areas of their land in order to build the new factory necessary for constructing Hamburg´s slice of the A380. This was done in spite of massive protests and the fact that the areas was protected as a nature and culture heritage site.

Made as duplicates from the interior of the 1972 sci-fi film Solaris by Andrei Tarkovsky, my
sculptures contain a Gravensteiner apple tree, the same variety that was cultivated where the factory is now located. As in the film, the memory of the deceased reappears in a new futuristic reality where they are inevitably unable to exist.
