It gives me great pleasure to announce the opening of the exhibition "You only tell me you love me when you´re drunk" made in collaboration with german artist Lutz-Rainer Müller. The exhibition is produced by Hordaland Art Centre and consists of two parts: one will be shown at their venue in Bergen, Norway, while a temporary public sculpture is to be found on an island just outside of Bergen.
The exhibition opens 3rd of September at 7pm. On the opening night there will be a free shuttle bus beween Hordaland Art Centre and the island.
About the exhibition:
Between September 3rd and October 3rd the two artists Lutz-Rainer Müller and Stian Ådlandsvik transform the house on Holmedalshammaren 67 at the island of Askøy outside of Bergen to a sculpture. This is one part of the two part exhibition titled "You only tell me you love me when you're drunk". The other part can be seen at Hordaland Art Centre at Nordnes in Bergen.
In the past we built houses for eternity. Today property and housing have changed from being a beloved necessity to becoming an investment. At least if we are to believe the media, where reports on homes are just as well about economics. As Norway has changed from a nation with sensible rations to a country of plenty, the relationship to our surroundings has changed too.
The artists made a scale model of the house and sent it around the world via Beijing, Sydney, New York City and Paris in poor wrapping. The sculpture at Askøy is a recreation of the model as it looked when it returned. The materials which have been removed from Holmedalshammaren 67 are used to make the exhibition at Hordaland Art Centre.
For the exhibition writer and curator Petra Reichensperger has been invited to write at text. A book about the project is planned for next year.
